The invite-only part is real — you do need somebody to bring you, or an application that gets read. The gravity around it is not. There is no blazer, there is no waiting list at a mahogany desk, and the Committee is smaller than the word "Committee" suggests. We built a private club because golf groups are private clubs, and then we could not resist the bit.

The Cut is invite only. Somebody already in brings you — or you apply and we take a look. Once you are in, Public is free forever for a foursome: Skins and Match Play with presses, live scoring, automatic handicaps, and your rounds kept for good. Member is the season pass at $99 a year — every game we have (Scotch with presses and rolls, Wolf, Banker, Hammer, Nines, Nassau), the props, and real tournaments with unlimited events and unlimited golfers, Cut AI included. Club is an annual licence for a whole club calendar — priced per club, so ask us — and every member of that club gets Member at half price. And anyone invited into an event plays free as a guest — everything the organizer has, for as long as that event runs.

No. The Cut works in any browser today — everyone scores and follows along from the website on their phone. An iPhone app is coming, and players always join free either way.

Enter each golfer's handicap index once and it's saved for next time, with course handicaps and hole-by-hole stroke allocation figured automatically for whatever tees and format you're playing. Whether the index anyone gave you is accurate remains, as ever, a matter between them and their conscience.

The Cut tracks points and units only. Nothing changes hands in the app — how your group settles is your group's business, away from the course. It's a scorekeeper, full stop.

On Member, yes — share one public leaderboard link and anyone follows along live, no login and no app. There's a broadcast board for the clubhouse TV, too.
